Recycle a Bike
Do you have a heavy old bicycle hidden away in your loft or garage? Often, these bikes can be really hard work to ride compared to modern cycles - but the workmanship in them is too good to allow you to throw them out with a clear conscience. Why not refurbish your bike simply and cheaply with protective metal paint, and make it into a decorative object you can display and ride?

Dismantle key components like the saddle, the chain, the handlebars, brakes, wheels and tyres. Clean all the areas you want to paint thoroughly with soapy water. Rinse and allow to dry.

Prepare all the surfaces by brushing with wire wool or a soft wire brush, using Metal Primer Grey on any areas of bare metal.
Carefully mask all areas which don't require painting, paying special attention to any working parts.

Spray the frame of the bike carefully with Metal Protekt Gloss Black, making sure you spray from different angles to ensure all the surfaces have an even coverage.

Spray the saddle, wheels (without tires) and masked handlebars with Metal Protekt Bright Red.

Once dry, reassemble the bike.
Make sure all components are working correctly and safely before you ride.
