Storage Cabinet

It's easy to recycle old furniture using spray paint. You can quickly transform a battered old set of drawers into a useful and attractive storage cabinet, full of those little things you need every day. Inexpensive label plates from the hardware store are a stylish way to label your cabinet drawers, and are easy to fit.

You'll need

Old wooden drawer set
Four label plates (or as many as you have drawers)
Coarse sandpaper
Newspaper
Screwdriver

Super Grey Primer

Gloss Super Medium Grey

Satin Super Pastel Green

Step by step guide
Step Number1
Garage storage before

Remove drawers. Clean thoroughly with a damp cloth, and lightly sand all the surfaces to remove any flaky varnish. Place on newspaper in a well-ventilated working area.

 
Step Number2

Mask any areas you don't want to paint, such as the inside of the drawers.

Prime the bare wood with Super Grey Primer, and leave to dry.

 
Step Number4

Apply your final colour using a smooth, even action for a professional finish. We used Gloss Super Medium Grey. Apply a coat of Satin Super Pastel Green to the label plates.

 
Step Number5

When the plates and cabinet are dry, screw the plates into position. Replace drawers.

 
Step Number6

Note: Always follow usage instructions on the reverse of Plasti-kote spray paint cans.
