Twinkling Garden Lights

You don't need to spend a fortune on stylish lighting for your garden - it's easy to use Glass Paint to transform glass jars from the kitchen into pretty, windproof tea-light holders for the garden. Dotting a number of these around the garden can look magical on warm nights.

 

You'll need

Empty jars
White spirit
Sticky dots (from any stationers)

Glass Paint in Red

Glass Paint in Green

Step by step guide
Step Number1
Jars Before

Clean the jars with soap and water and soak off any labels. You can use white spirit to remove any remaining glue, but be careful to wash it off thoroughly.

Jars Step 1

When the jars are dry, apply sticky dots. These will mask areas of the glass so it remains colourless. You can stick them on at random, or use them to make a pattern. Press down hard to prevent colour bleed.

 
Step Number3
Jars step 2

Apply thin, even coats of Glass Paint in Green and Red.

 
Step Number4

When the paint is dry, gently lift the dots off with the blade of a butter knife.

 
Step Number5

Place tea-lights in each jar.
